You can’t go back, and that’s okay

You can’t go back, and that’s okay

There’s a quiet truth we don’t always want to face.

Sometimes, you can’t go home. Not because the place is gone, but because you are not the same person who once lived there.

Time moves like a river through the mountains. It doesn’t ask permission. It doesn’t circle back. It keeps going steady, patient, and certain. And somehow, so do we.

There are moments I’ve tried to return to ~ old roads, familiar skies, memories that once felt like everything. But they don’t land the same. The light has shifted. The feeling has changed.

And for a while, that can feel like loss. But maybe it isn’t. Maybe it’s proof that life is doing exactly what it’s meant to do, gently, persistently moving us forward.

In nature, nothing tries to go backward. Wildflowers don’t return to seed once they’ve bloomed. The tide doesn’t cling to the shore. Even after a fire, the land doesn’t try to become what it was before, it grows into something new.

There’s a quiet kind of peace in that. You are allowed to miss what was. You are allowed to carry pieces of it with you ~ the warmth, the lessons, the softness of certain memories. But you are not meant to stay there.

There is something ahead of you that requires the version of you that exists now. Not who you were. Not who you thought you’d be. But who you’ve become through all of it.

Life doesn’t push you forward to take something away. It does it to make space. Space for new landscapes. New stillness. New meaning.

And maybe, if you listen closely, you’ll notice something gentle beneath it all ~ A quiet reassurance: You didn’t lose your way. You followed it.
